Day 4: Something Green

I figured the Farmers' Market would be a fabulous place to snap some "green" photos this morning, and I was right. Reese and I headed downtown while Wes went to play with some really cool kids for a few hours. It's another HOT day here, so we didn't stay out in the blazing sun for too long. Instead, we visited Daddy for a bit and chatted with some of the wonderful people of rEcess before coming home for a nap.
{And speaking of naps, I am in great need of advice (or simple encouragement). Reese has recently decided to just sit up in her crib during nap time and sometimes at night. She is so stinkin' tired, and she'll even be rubbing the heck out of her eyes, but she stays sitting. I just don't think she knows to lay back down in order to go to sleep. Up until two days ago, she did it a couple of times and then just found her way to get horizontal and did it all herself. However, now she needs assistance after she's been vertical for 30ish minutes. I assume this is just a weird stage where she is wanting to practice a trick. Am I right? If so, should I go help her back down or let her figure it out on her own even if it means not napping the entire day? Just thought I would hear from a few veteran moms on this one. Thanks in advance.}
Here are the "something green" pictures:

Have I mentioned how much I love Bentonville?

Lots of green in this one. I waited until it was pretty clear of the big crowd to get as much green as possible.

Green tree and old man in green shirt. And black trash can.

Pretty green plants and flowers.

Green sign surrounded by more green.
I love this Photography Challenge, but I find myself not blogging about other totally important things such as the birth of Caroline Ann Penturf and the booking of our first major trip with Reese. Caroline comes first...we kept big sister Sarah on Thursday night while Kari and Daniel headed to the hospital during what they thought to be a slow, simple labor. Ha. They dropped Sarah off at 6ish, left our house around 6:30, stopped to eat at Chick-Fil-A, and then delivered Caroline at 8:41. Woah is right. No time for an epidural. (Yay for natural childbirth...Kari, I know you are so thrilled to join the club. Ha.) Quick, fast, you name it. Caroline didn't waste any time, and Kari was an absolute rock star. Sweet Caroline is absolutely beautiful, and I was so honored to be right down the hall while she arrived. I can't wait for all of these girls to start really playing together. What a blessing it is to have such incredible friends who have little girls (and boys, too for that matter) that can be raised up together and taught together to love the Lord. So, yay, I am so glad Caroline is here, and now I just pray for the adventure that is beginning in the Penturf home with a 2 day old and a 13 month old.
And about the trip that was just booked. My brother lives in San Francisco while he works on his doctorate in English Literature from Stanford. He's been there for a couple of years, and it's about time we visit him. My parents are flying from Little Rock, and this little family will be flying from Joplin. Luckily, our Dallas-SFO flights are the same, so that will be great to have extra hands for Reese's enjoyment. I can't wait to get out there and explore the coast, Napa, and the city. It's been at least 10 years since I've been, and I know it will be a completely different experience this time.
Okay, I'm off to finish my crafting to-do list and then to check the first one off the list. Painting a lamp shade.

Sweet Sarah playing while she is about become a big sister!

The guys and their littlest girls.

About napping: Graham did ok when he learned to sit up, but now that he's pulling up, we're having nap issues too. Does the same thing Reese is doing except he's standing up, throwing his paci on the floor, and crying. I've tried leaving him to figure it out to no avail. So, I just let him cry for a while and then go in and lay him down. Usually he falls asleep at that point. This probably doesn't help, but I say do what you have to do for a happy baby, which probably means laying her down so she'll get a nap. She'll eventually outgrow it.
And now that I've left the longest comment ever...don't stress about the flight with Reese. She'll do great! I was worried about our first flight and it was easy peasy!

Having the same problems here... except they are climbing on bumpers and standing... falling... hitting head... screaming... eventually they fall asleep, but it's usually in a funny position.. like sitting up with their head resting on their bumpers. It's definitely an interesting phase. I plan on not going in there and letting them figure out that its nap time and I mean business. Hopefully Reese will decide to sleep soon. I think they are just proud that they are able to do something new and don't even realize how tired they are. I have tried to lay them down and put their pacis in, but it only prolongs the issue. Ugh... once again... total guessing game!

Beautiful green pictures! I love the B'ville square! Sorry, I don't have advice on the nap issues. She will grow out of it eventually, it just is really frustrating now.
