Wow.
Wes and a buddy from work decided to take a road trip to Denver this weekend to visit another friend. When he proposed this trip last week, I hesitantly said he should go and that I would be fine. I know so many people have husbands who travel all the time for work, but Wes doesn't. I'm used to having him with me every night. I called my mom to let her know of these plans, and I just asked her what she and my dad had going on this weekend. She was helping throw two wedding showers of some of the dearest family friends. Well, I figured I would just gear up for a looooong weekend. However, she and my dad talked and decided it was a no-brainer. These are the kinds of things they want to be able to do as grandparents. She made some phone calls, and she had my dad run some errands for her to complete her responsibilities as shower hostess. Wow. I am sooooo thankful she decided to spend the weekend here. About thirty minutes after Wes pulled out of the driveway on Thursday night, Reese became fussier than normal. This was to be my only night alone because mom was coming Friday afternoon. Let's just say Thursday night was the worst night Reese has ever had in terms of sleeping, crying, fussiness, etc. I had noticed cold symptoms for about two days, and she has never had a cold. I figured this could be how she deals with colds. Yuck. But when the sun rose on Friday morning, she was not any better. She was hysterical. I called the doctor at 7:30 am, got her in at 8:50, got meds for an ear infection at 10:00, and then prayed that she would feel better soon (and that mom would get here quickly!). As soon as the first couple of doses of the antibiotic got in her little system, she started feeling better. She still has the cold symptoms, but she is a new woman compared to Thursday and Friday. And guess what? My mom and I had a fabulous weekend with just "the girls." We ordered in Table Mesa for dinner on Friday, she got up during the nights to help our sweet Reese, we did some really fun shopping on Saturday, got Crumpet Tea Room for lunch, ordered pizza for dinner, watched a movie, went grocery shopping (on her), and entertained ourselves with Reese and her smily self for hours. Reese loves her Mopsy so much that she just decided to refuse napping for the past few days. She just wanted to spend time with her grandmother. :) I got to sit back and watch these two love on each other, and it was so special and so priceless. It's the greatest thing to see my mom with her only grandchild. Playing peek-a-boo in the Dillard's shoe section might be her favorite memory of the weekend. Regardless, I am so incredibly thankful that she decided to spend the weekend here. Enjoy this sweet video I got yesterday. I finally caught that laughter on video!! Reese's first illness that I had to deal with at home is hopefully coming to an end, and I think she's pretty happy about it.

adorable. So glad you guys had fun. WHat is it about Grandma's? Timmy's biggest giggles have been for my mom playing the same game.
I'm so glad you didn't have to be alone ... that's so tough when the little ones are fussy. She's precious!
Why does it always seem to be that way?!?! My boys ALWAYS fall apart when Trey is out of town!! :) Glad that 'Mopsie' came to the rescue!!! Aren't mothers wonderful!?!? Sounds like you had an awesome weekend despite everything..what a sweet mama! Hope your little one is feeling so much better!!
So glad Mopsy was able to help out! Sorry Reese had such a rough time. Things always fall apart when Papa is out of town, glad you had help! We've had big snows, throw up bug, roof leak, mice caught, several colds, goose egg on the head... all while Papa's been out of town.
Loved the video! So glad Sarah could be there..hope Reese is on the mend!
Warm weather is coming..yippee!
Miss you, Gran/Susie
