Wes' grandmother is the namesake for the newest Walker grandchild. Fittingly, she wanted to meet this sweet baby girl. That's how this Walker weekend got started. Wes' dad drove to Camden on Friday morning to pick her up, stopped in Conway on the way back up to get Susie, and then the three made it to Fayetteville late in the afternoon. Side note: The trip was made longer when Tommy got to Camden and Mema wasn't ready. She had fallen asleep watching American Idol Thursday night and hadn't finished packing. Oh, those 87 year olds and their reality TV. We also had an in-depth conversation last night along with Tommy about how Brad and Emily will end up together on The Bachelor. Back to the weekend...We all gathered at Benton and JB's for pizza that night, and it was in typical fashion. Lots of kids. Lots of food. And as always, a ton of love and laughter. Whitlee opened up several of her birthday gifts including a Barbie bike and lots of other things she absolutely loved. Mema got to hold little Marion, handsome Ty, and got her second fix of Reese. Last night, we gathered here for the Razorback basketball game and spaghetti (thank YOU, Susie--it was DELICIOUS!!), and the group photo shoot. Ha. A memorable few moments for sure. Picture this: 7:00 p.m. A bit past bedtime for Reese. A bit past dinnertime for Ty and Marion. A bit past anytime the older kids wanted to be told to sit on a couch and smile. But we HAD to get a picture of the eight grandchildren with Gran and O'Pa and one with 8 of Mema's 15 great-grandchildren with her. Chaos ensued. I rushed to grab our Flip camera, and with only 30 seconds of film left, I got what I could. Enjoy the pictures and the video. I think you will.
Mema with Reese on Friday night. I don't think you could ask for a sweeter, more loving Mema. I love any time I get to spend with her. I can remember so well the night of our engagement and listening to Wes tell his Mema the big news on the phone. She calls us all on birthdays, anniversaries, and just to check in from time to time.

That video is HILARIOUS Kate!!! Oh the joy of kids! :) Thanks again for everything last weekend! Can't wait to see you again soon!!
Brings back memories of her 9 grandchildren trying to get a picture, but also of my Grancy's and Poosie's (Mema's parents) 21 grandchildren trying to get a picture!

I am laughing SO hard! I love so many things about this post! First of all, the video. And JB's face at around 8 seconds. Love it. Second of all, Mema and her reality TV. I had the pleasure of watching the Bachelor reunion special with her AND Aunt Mary a couple seasons back when the guy (can't remember his name) dumped one girl for the runner-up. Probably one of the funniest experiences of my life listening to those two sweet sisters as the drama unfolded!!
All I can say, is "you should have been there." No wonder Opa was on his 2nd glass of wine..what I loved best was JB's instinctive arm going out to keep Ben from exiting the pic..she didn't even look. she just did "Mama Arm"..oh, so funny. At one time, 5 of the 8 were crying..but Not Reese..just as calm as a cucumber. I can only imagine what she was thinking.."What happened to my quiet house?" Thanks, Kate for posting this and hosting us..Mema had such a great time..I sent her home with the coconut cake for she and Aunt Mary to enjoy during The Bachelor tonight..no telling how long Aunt Mary will stay tonight..of course, she has bridge first at 1 pm. She thoroughly enjoyed Bible Study with us last night..that woman is amazing. Susie/Gran
Kate, Gran sent me over here to see this post, and I am SO glad she did, because I got my big laugh for the day! This was so cute. We have a problem getting all of the grands together for a good photo too, and I've even tried a professional photographer. At least one of them is always doing something they shouldn't be doing. All of the children are adorable, and I know Mema had a wonderful time! What memories y'all made this weekend. Thank you for sharing them and for giving me a big laugh today! laurie
This is so funny. I can't wait to try for all 15 (maybe 16 by then) in one picture.
I watched an episode of one of those reality shows (I think it was America's Got Talent) with Mema and Aunt Mary. You should have heard them trying to explain to me the order in which different acts got kicked off. About as funny as Mema and Papa trying to get dinner ready together.
Hahaha love the video!! That is tooo funny. Thanks for sharing.
