As I was giving Reese her milk and reading her Night, Night Prayer book tonight, I started thinking about how perfect our nightly routine is. I mean, I love it. Here's how our typical evening looks: Dinner for Reese at 6. Sometimes Wes and I eat then as well, and I do hope to make that more common soon. Dance party after dinner. Play time and lots of laughs. Here's what I love--Wes then takes Reese for a bath, and while he bathes her, I get her stuff ready for bed. Pajamas, sleep sack, lovie, and milk all set out for post bath. Wes brings her in to her room, dries her off, and hands her to me. I lotion her up, diaper her up, and then she goes to town on that milk while pajamas are being put on. Oh, and she takes that lovie and just rubs it all over her face and head while drinking. Those eyes roll back a few times, and she knows it's almost bedtime. I get her all ready, and one of us takes her over to the chair and reads a book to her while she finishes her milk. We pray over her and with her. If I am putting her down, Wes goes to the living room and picks up toys and starts in on cleaning up dinner. I turn off the light in Reese's room, sing Jesus Loves Me, and then put her in her crib. (Some nights, Wes puts her down, so roles are reversed for the last couple of steps.) Ahhhh...it's off to sweet dreams at 7pm for her--that is, after a few minutes of cute crib play time most nights.
After the kitchen is cleaned up, Wes and I eat dinner if we haven't already, and we have hours before our bedtime to spend together. To me, it's perfect. I should photograph this routine because it's pretty cute. But because I haven't, here are some photos from my phone this past week...
Reese and a few of her neighborhood gal pals. She is overwhelmingly loved by all the kids, and we spend the 4-5 o'clock hour most days outside with them.

Reese and two of the boys.

Beach buddy Walker came to visit this weekend. They were pretty cute together, and he is the sweetest little guy ever.

I love the pictures and the account of your nightly routine...you and Wes are such a great team!!
The time spent with the kids in the neighborhood brings back memories when you were little. That was always such a great time to get outside and visit and play!
Loved reading this! We have a similar nightly routine and some of my favorite memories are made during those sweet moments!
Love how peaceful the nightly routine sounds. Completely different story over here! : ) Reese is one very blessed little lady.
