Crayons for Christ

As I sit here eating my non-vegan vegan brownie (thanks, Cary, for the recipe the other day...I followed the recipe almost exactly except for the milk.), I can't wipe the smile off my face from last night's Cell-ebration (and the brownie is helping, too).
If you have been following this blog for a while, you know that I co-lead a high school girls' Bible study (aka cell group). These girls are AMAZING. We "cell-ebrated" the end of the year last night, and to hear these girls shout and sing the name of the Lord like He's their best friend is quite overwhelming. I've been able to witness so many of them really put their trust and faith in Christ and begin to understand what God has done for them and how much He loves them these past two years. The love they have for one another is pretty cool, too. They lift each other up, and I just pray that these relationships continue to grow stronger and deeper, rooted in their love for Jesus.
Not only are they passionate about finding out who God has made them to be, but they are so much stinkin' fun. I decided to help lead a Bible study a few summers ago, and I accepted Rogers 8th grade girls. I wasn't even thinking that I would possibly know some of these girls, as I taught 8th grade and coached 8th grade cheerleading in Rogers. When cell group meetings started up in the fall, I just fell more and more in love with what God had called me to do. To be able to teach these girls English at school, coach them in cheer in the afternoons, and then talk with them about Christ in the evenings was just about the greatest thing ever. Last year was the busiest year I've ever had, but I will always be able to say it was one of the best EVER. Of course the teaching and coaching jobs are over (for now), but God allowed me to keep leading this cell group, and I get giddy with excitement when I think about being with them until they graduate high school. These girls are beautiful women of God, both inside and out. If you can remember, while we were in the hospital back when Reese was born in the fall, I obviously missed a cell group meeting. They called, and they prayed over the phone for Reese. I have tears in my eyes just remembering that beautiful moment. They each wrote notes to me that same night, and I have them in Reese's baby book. Three other "adults" plus me lead this group of young women, and I am so blessed to know them and get to lead alongside them. They are lifelong friends who are so wise and full of similar desires.
Here are some pictures of some of my favorite people in the world.

A friendly student-teacher dodgeball tournament at school last year.

A few guys from our "brother group" waiting to play some basketball.

Oh, you know, just painting Hannah's face with make-up.

So cute. They look so young here.

The lucky 3. They got me for English, cheer, and cell group.

Maris and Chelsi at my baby shower last summer.

Last night's Cell-ebration! {We were different colored crayons--sort of.}

Most of the crew.

The girls and boys. LOVE THEM ALL.
